Classic Movie: ‘Grease’

A 1978 American musical romantic comedy film directed by Randal Kleiser (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Bronté Woodard and an adaptation by Allan Carr, based on the stage musical of the same name by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.  ‘Grease’ was the highest-grossing musical film at the time and whose soundtrack remains one of the world’s best-selling albums. It features two major hit duets with co-star John Travolta: “You’re the One That I Want”—which is one of the best-selling singles of all time — and “Summer Nights”.

The film depicts the lives of greaser Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and Australian transfer student Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John), who develop an attraction for each other during a summer romance.  With global sales of more than 100 million records, Newton-John established herself as one of the best-selling music artists of all time, as well as one of the highest-selling female Australian artists.  Dame Olivia Newton-John AC DBE died on 8 August 2022.   [source: Wikipedia].
